On the morning of August 8, the company’s bus departed from Shenzhen bound for Xunliao Bay in Huidong. During the two-hour ride, some passengers caught up on sleep, while others grabbed microphones and sang all the way, quickly warming up the atmosphere. The two-day team-building trip was packed with activities: sailing, kayaking, and a scenic sea‑view hike at Mozishi Rock, followed in the evening by a beach barbecue and a bonfire karaoke session.

The first stop was a sailing excursion. Upon arriving at the pier, everyone donned life jackets and boarded the sailboat in small groups. As soon as the boat left port, the sea breeze swept over us, the white sails billowed, and the hull rose and fell with the waves. At first, some clung tightly to the railings, but before long they grew bolder, waving and snapping photos on deck. That sensation—having the boat beneath your feet and the ocean all around—was entirely different from standing on shore and watching.

At noon, we enjoyed a seafood meal at a seaside restaurant, and in the afternoon, we checked into the Sea World Hotel. The beach is right beneath the hotel, and from our room window, the ocean stretches out before us. After a short rest, we headed to the Victoria Harbour Bay Pier to try kayaking.
Kayaking looks simple, but you quickly realize there’s a lot to it once you’re out on the water. The instructor first taught us the basic maneuvers—forward, backward, and turning—then we headed out in pairs. In the first few minutes, several kayaks spun in circles, paddling in place and laughing at one another. As we found our rhythm, we began rowing farther and farther, one after another. On the sea, a dozen colorful kayaks spread out; the sun warmed our skin, the water was refreshingly cool, and some even set their paddles down, letting the boats drift along on their own.

In the evening, we returned to the beach, and the barbecue grill was already set up. Chicken legs, chicken wings, corn, sausages, and meat skewers filled the table—everything was grilled fresh, right there. As night fell, the bonfire was lit, the speakers turned on, and the karaoke kicked off on the spot. The engineers who usually spend their days fine-tuning equipment took to the microphone with no hesitation at all.

The next morning, we visited Mozishi Park. This spot is one of the eighteen scenic highlights of Xunliao Bay, where granite boulders of all sizes—weathered by the sea for who knows how long—stand along the shore, each with a unique shape. As we strolled along the coastal trail, we were treated to a breathtaking view: towering rock formations on one side and the deep blue sea on the other, with strong winds and choppy waves. We gathered for a group photo in front of the largest boulder, beneath a banner that read, “Focusing on Chip‑Making Equipment, Uniting Forces to Shape a Smart Future.”

Before heading back in the afternoon, we also went whitewater rafting at Bihai Bay. The river winds through a canyon lined with dense forest, with one rapid after another. As the raft hurtles down each drop, spray splashes all over us, and everyone on board is shouting with excitement. By the time we finish, we’re soaking wet—but no one complains; it’s pure fun.

The two-day trip wasn’t long, but we had a great time. On the bus ride back, many people dozed off with their heads resting against the window. One colleague joked that they’d gotten a nice tan all around, while another was already asking when the next team-building outing would be.
